"I have two books at my bedside, Lieutenant: The Dark Knight Returns and the King James Bible. The only proper authorities I am aware of are Frank Miller and the Lord our God."
(Really old picture, but fitting)
When someone starts a forum, message board, blog or web site, they have a purpose or goal, idea or message they want to promote or share. It has come to the point where I shall reveal my hidden agenda. When it comes to Batman movies,
I WANT FRANK MILLER INVOLVED
The latest film adaptation of a Frank Miller graphic novel (300) hits theaters this Friday.
The film's director, Zack Snyder, had Miller involved in the whole process and tried to capture the "feel" of the book.
As did Robert Rodriguez with Sin City.
Miller's The Dark Kinght Returns was Tim Burton's infulence in Batman (89)
Shown by the newscasts throughout the movie like the book.
Why is he not on every Batman movie?
DC Comics and fans alike, have adopted Miller's Batman: Year One as the accepted orgin story for Batman and the basis for the comics continuity. Even Christopher Nolan referenced the book for the making of Batman Begins. And it is my opinion that everything that DC puts out is done with the concept that The Dark Knight Returns is how it all ends.
I've read threads on other forums where on the one hand they have "Cast the Dark Knight Returns" and then in other sections they say that a Batman movie wouldn't work in the style of Sin City. Why the Hell not?
Look, comic movies do not win Oscars, maybe for design and sound, but not best picture. So why not make the movie look great. Why do most fans buy comics? the Story and the art.
This wouldn't work?
Or this?
Now it's too late to have Miller do the orgin, but maybe they could get him onboard for the introduction of Robin, who Nolan say's will not be apart of his Batman films. Miller told a great story with All Star Batman and Robin, the Boy Wonder.
People talk about realism in comic movies, why? It's a movie based on a comic book. There are not men from Krypton or Amazon Princesses. Make it fun and great to look at. That's what I watch these movies for.
And cool it with the black rubber suits, Batman's supposed to look like this.
They also say this look wouldn't work on film either, Bull shot.
