Source: Variety February 23, 2007 Warner Bros. Pictures is looking to make a feature based on super team the Justice League of America, hiring writing duo Kiernan and Michele Mulroney to write the script, reports Variety. It's the first major action the studio has taken on the project. The feature film is bound to include some combination of DC's most iconic superheroes, although the studio wouldn't confirm which ones they might be. It's unlikely that the studio and DC Comics, a division of Warner, would opt to feature second-tier characters. Since its inception in 1960, JLA has featured almost every major hero in the DC Comics universe, although the core team has largely remained the same: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter. The heroes typically band together to fight alien menaces or groups of supervillains. "The Justice League of America has been a perennial favorite for generations of fans, and we believe their appeal to film audiences will be as strong and diverse as the characters themselves," Warner president of production Jeff Robinov said in announcing the hiring of the Mulroneys. The trade says that in taking on the ambitious project, Warner faces several conundrums. Now that the Batman and Superman film franchises have been revived, does the studio go after Christian Bale (Batman Begins) and Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) to star in a Justice League pic? The studio is also trying hard to bring Wonder Woman to the big screen. To a large degree, casting will depend upon the story arc for the JLA feature and at what point in the superheroes' lives the plot takes place.

wow! this could be super cool or super suckie! i guess it depends on who they get to direct and write! MILLER! MILLER! MILLER there was a post made in another thread here as to . . . hang on oil find the link to it legionofthebat.proboards80.com/index.cgi?board=bmstuff&action=display&thread=1173283555&page=1anywho, i think maybe an animated approach to this? i'm not talking the recent Justice League style (which was realy cool none-the-less) but maybe a CGI style animation. i've seen some very funky animated pics recently most notibly: Final Fantasy VII, Advent Children & Appleseed (the latest version - i dont know if it's a series or not!) now these just prove what can be done with animation these days and to see a bunch of out favourite Super Heroes presented like one of these . . . well it think it would be really cool still tho . . . if done right . . . this could be one kick-ass movie!

I think they are more likely to go live action with it, they probibly feel we done the animated, Superfriends and Justice League/Unlimited. The burning questions is... Will it include Wendy, Marvin, and Wonderdog?

No Delays on Justice League, Cast to be Announced this Week Written by IESB Staff Monday, 12 November 2007 The WGA is not slowing down the WB and its plan to get Justice League on track, WB sources tell IESB that the cast will be announced this week.
Variety reported that there may be some delays on some studio tent poles including Justice League, this is not accurate according to WB sources. They tell the IESB that unlike the story ran by the trades, casting is 100% locked. The cast has been chosen and sworn to secrecy but official confirmation will happen sometime this week.
There have been so many names associated with the Justice League throughout the last few months that it would make anybody’s head spin.
Looks like his will all come to an end this by this weekend…thank the maker.

Since August there have been a bajillion Justice League casting rumors, some more credible than others, but finally - as news of a complete casting announcement looms - I think we are getting somewhere as IESB has leaked three names they have recently been whispered. The names are... Adam Brody as The Flash... Common as Green Lantern... ..and Teresa Palmer as Talia al Ghul, the daughter of Ra's al Ghul played by Ken Watanabe and ultimately Liam Neeson in Batman Begins Then, on top of that, Slash Film is reporting that Scott Porter of "Friday Night Lights" fame will play Superman. I have put together four little image previews for each actor and their character to give you and idea of what to look forward to. We are expecting an official announcement next week.

No 'Justice' for Warners
By Borys Kit hollywoodreporter.com
Jan 17, 2008
Warner Bros. has disbanded its "Justice League."
The George Miller-helmed project, featuring the DC Comics A-list superheroes in live-action flesh, has officially been grounded. The studio is citing script issues as the cause.
The feature was to have been a tentpole special effects extravaganza for Warners. Word leaked in the fall that the script, by Kieran Mulroney and Michele Mulroney, was good but that subsequent passes, including the latest by Miller, had pacing issues and took the project in directions the studio wasn't happy with. With the writers strike, the studio decided it was best to wait to iron out the problems.
Also adding to the woes were questions of tax-incentive qualifications in Australia, where Miller was prepping to shoot. The project's costs were escalating, and the script would need an overhaul if the movie didn't qualify for discounts.
The decision to put the project on hold now frees up the actors who had been cast in the roles of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and the Flash. D.J. Cotrona, Adam Brody, Anton Yelchin, Common, Teresa Palmer and Megan Gale had been cast in the movie in November, with their holding deals extended at least once as the studio tackled the script problems. The extensions expired Tuesday, after which a pay-or-play situation would have taken effect. The studio is not afraid of losing the actors because playing iconic superheroes in "Justice" is seen as a starmaking turn.
"Justice's" delay is considered good news for Christopher Nolan's camp. Nolan is in post on "The Dark Knight," the sequel to "Batman Begins," and is said to have been unhappy with the "Justice League" movie because its version of Batman (to have been played by Armie Hammier) clashed with his (Christian Bale). Nolan has been resisting directing a third "Batman" movie, though the studio would relish the possibility and could begin heavy courting.
